Understanding Canine Rehabilitation

The field of veterinary health is rapidly growing as our love for dogs grows. Just like human physical therapy, the discussion about physical therapy can happen in a variety of different ways. Sometimes dogs go through a significant injury or surgery, and need help rehabilitating the correct way. Sometimes dogs are born with weaknesses or issues that need addressed to give the dog the best life possible.

Dr. Katie has been trained and certified as a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist through the Canine Rehab Institute. This program only allows veterinarians and physical therapists to complete the training, meaning, that it is a very rigorous certification. Katie has a wonderful working relationship with many veterinarians in the area, and hopes to expand the field of canine rehab with their help.

Some of the diagnoses that we can assist with include:

Post surgery
Post injury
Hip dysplasia
General pain in a leg, back, neck, etc.
Weakness
Vestibular disorders
Osteoarthritis/aging dogs
Health and weight management

As always, we recommend proper routine veterinary care for your dog. Physical therapy is in no way a substitute for regular office visits with your veterinarian.

We would be happy to evaluate your fur baby, and assess if physical therapy is right for you. Please call/email us to discuss your options. Payment and scheduling can be discussed with you at that time.
